What kind of websites do I build?

Most projects fall somewhere between a small company website and a full web application. A few examples of the kind of work I mean:

• A website for a medical or physiotherapy practice with online appointment booking, so the phone rings less often.
• A landing page for a product launch or a new Vienna office.
• A customer portal with a login where clients can see their orders, download documents or send requests.
• A small web app that replaces the Excel sheet three people in the office keep overwriting.

Once the site is live, I can also take care of hosting, maintenance and updates.

Who is this for?

I work for businesses in Vienna and the rest of Austria, and I am a good fit if you would rather not run a project in German. International companies setting up in Vienna, founders, startups and expats with their own business can do the whole project with me in English: calls, quote, feedback rounds and documentation.

Your customers may still expect German. A bilingual website is planned with separate pages and addresses for each language, so search engines show the German version to people searching in German and the English version to everyone else. One note for anyone new to Austria: most business websites here need an Impressum, a legal notice page. I build it into the site. The legal details in it come from you, and I am not a lawyer.

How much does a business website cost in Vienna?

The cost of a business website depends mainly on its size, its content, its features and the design work involved, and you get a fixed price after the free first call. I would rather explain these factors than quote a number that turns out to be wrong:

• Size. Five pages or fifty, one language or two.
• Content. Whether texts and photos are ready, or still need to be written and taken.
• Features. A contact form is simple. Booking, logins, payments or a connection to your existing software take more work.
• Design. Web design built on a clean, proven layout costs less than designing every page from scratch. Both are possible.

After the free first call you get a fixed price in writing. If you later want something outside the agreed scope, I quote it separately before I start, so the total never moves without your say. And if a simple website does the job, I will tell you, instead of selling you a web app you do not need.

How long does it take?

A straightforward company website can often go live within a few weeks, while web apps and portals take longer because there is more to test. In practice the biggest delay is rarely the code. It is waiting for texts, photos and decisions. If those are ready early, the project moves quickly.

Your quote includes a schedule with stages. I show you work in progress early, so you can react to something real on your own phone instead of a static mock-up.

Which technology do you use?

For content websites I usually work with plain HTML and CSS or with Astro. The result loads fast and has very little that needs patching. For web apps and portals I use React and Node.js, with PostgreSQL for the data. Everything is hosted on Linux servers in the EU.

I do not pick tools because they are fashionable. If your team wants to edit texts themselves, say so in the first call, because that changes which setup makes sense.

What about Google and page speed?

Every site I build is prepared for search engines: clean page structure, proper titles and descriptions, fast loading, readable on a phone and correct language tags. For businesses that serve customers locally, the site also states clearly where you are and what you offer in Vienna. What nobody can honestly promise is a particular ranking on Google, and I will not.

What happens after launch?

I stay your contact. That means hosting, security updates, small text changes and new features when your business needs them. You do not have to explain your website to a stranger every time something needs changing.
